Failure Codes

Path: Organization > Lookups > Failure Codes

Create Failure Codes to define the terms that identify various types of job failure, for example: defective part, fuse blown.

The Lookups > Failure Codes window also provides the means to generate corrective PM Work Orders. The following conditions must be true to trigger Corrective Work Orders:

  • the Work Order Type for the original Work Order is designated as a PM
  • the Task on the original Work Order is marked as complete

When these conditions are met, WebTMA enables the Correct Failure? check box on the Work Order Labor Entry flyout to create a corrective Work Order to perform the Corrective Task. The Labor Entry flyout opens from either the Quick Post Time & Labor window or the Work Order / Cost Tab.

Once you click Save on the WebTMA toolbar, a Failure WO message displays, "Do you wish to create a Work Order to correct the failure(s) at this time?" Choose OK if you want to create a corrective Work Order for this PM failure.

Corrective Work Order Details

You can take any of three actions to prompt users to create a corrective Work Order:

  • Mark the Manual Corrective WO check box only
  • Fully complete the fields in the Corrective Work Order Section only*
  • Partially complete the Corrective Work Order Section and mark the Manual Corrective WO check box

* All fields are required with some exceptions for Trade, which is also required if Client Info / Preference is set to Force a Trade for Each Task.

The corrective Work Order is a copy of the original with data from most fields carried over except the following: Work Order Type, Priority, and Request. These display the data specified on the Failure Code Lookup window.

Tasks on the new corrective Work Order are cleared and replaced with the Corrective Task from the Failure Code Lookup window.

The Task on the new Work Order uses the Trade specified on the Failure Code Lookup window. If no Trade has been entered, WebTMA uses the Trade on the Task record for the specified Task. If neither the Failure Code Lookup window nor the Task window has a Trade, the Task on the new Work Order will not have a Trade.
