WebTMA GO is designed to be viewed horizontally. It can also accommodate a vertical view. When looking at windows vertically, you may have to scroll more frequently to see all columns on the List windows.
The following paragraphs discuss functions that are found with many of the modules in WebTMA GO.
List Window
When you select a menu item, such as Work Order > Request Log, the first page of most windows displays a List window. The List windows can show:
-
Existing records
-
New records (both pending or recently pushed)
From this window, you can search for records on the server or create new records.
When you add a new record, i.e., tap New, the application writes a record even if you do not enter data. If you tap the Main Menu link and select a different menu option without saving the record, WebTMA GO displays the following popup alert: "Changes will be lost...continue?"
If you tap Continue, the record is not saved.
Field Searches
Fields that display the greater than arrow automatically show a selection list that has been downloaded from the server, i.e., static data.
Enter characters in the Search field at the top of the drop-down
The ellipsis button is used when you are connected via WiFi or Cellular to search server data.
When you tap the button, the popup window is blank; however, when you type a character or string of characters in the spotlight field, results from the server display any eligible line that contains the character.
Type a character or character string in the Search field, and the search list is populated by items that contain the character(s). If you type several characters or a full tag number, the matching value or values appear at the top of the list.
Required Fields
Required fields are identified by a red bar at the left. When you create a new record, certain fields are required. Without data in these fields, the record cannot be written to the server.
NOTE: The system also uses the red marker to draw attention if the value entered is invalid for the type of field, i.e., a number entered in a field that only accepts alpha characters.
Copy and Zoom Context Menu
A popup Context Menu is available for fields when you tap lightly in a field and long press (press and hold a moment) in a field.
Use Zoom to open a read-only copy of a record identified in the field, for example, an associated item or a Project. If the field is populated, you can view a read-only copy of the associated record. To return to the original record, tap Done on the viewed record.
Look for a blue color at the right side of a field for a Zoom-only indicator if zooming is available for the field.
The Copy feature is available to capture data in a field, regardless of whether the field is enabled or disabled. The copied text can be pasted to another field on the same record, to a different record, or to other applications on the iPad such as Notes or Mail. Not all fields are associated with separate records; therefore, Copy may be the only context option available.
To paste content in another location, tap in the new field or application, and long press to use the system context menu.
NOTE: The context menus can include unwanted options because they include iOS options as well as WebTMA GO. To exclude the iOS commands, first tap in a field, raise your finger, and then use a long press.
Data Entry Tip
When you tap in a field, the keyboard displays automatically. Use the Next and Previous buttons at the top of the keyboard to move to different fields.
The cursor moves down an entire column, including grouping sections (group boxes), before moving to the top of the next column. The Next button action skips "popup" fields, i.e., those fields with an arrow at the left indicating a selection popup window.
Comments and Siri
Technicians may prefer to talk to Siri to enter their Comments rather than type them. This can be challenging because:
-
Siri may not always interpret the spoken words correctly, much like sending a text with auto-complete, where the intended “May be in later” turns into “Mat be un later.” Best used in a quiet area.
-
The user must have a WiFi or Cellular connection to make use of Siri
When these concerns are overcome, Comments can be “hands-free”.
