SSRS Report Servers Installation and Setup

WebTMA uses SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), which is Microsoft’s server‐based, end‐to‐end reporting solution that supports report authoring, distribution, management, and end user access for its basic reports.

If it has not been installed, install SSRS using instructions from the Microsoft web site.

Set Up a Report User

Using WebTMA with SSRS requires an authorized user on the machine that SSRS is installed on. This can be an existing user (one that has been created already) or you can create a new user specifically for use with WebTMA SSRS.

Follow these steps to create a WebTMA Report User.

  1. Open the Server Manager Dashboard.
    • Click Tools > Computer Management.
  2. Expand the Local Users and Groups option in the left pane to show the Users folder.
  3. Right‐click the Users folder.
  4. Select New User…
  5. Enter User information in the New User dialog. The following example creates a new user named WebTMAReportUser. The required fields are User name and Password.
  6. The settings in this step are suggested settings ONLY. Please adhere to your company’s security policies. Check “User cannot change password” and “Password never expires”.
  7. Uncheck “User must change password at next login”.
  8. Be sure to document your User name and Password.

9. Click the Create button.

10. Click the Close button.

11.   Assign this user to any groups the user is a part of.

  • Look in the Users folder.
  • Locate the User you just created.
  • Double‐click the User name to open the properties for the User.
  • Click the Member Of tab. This is where you add/remove groups to which the user belongs. Example: If you want to make the user a part of the Administrators group, click Add and enter “Administrators” in the Select Groups dialog. By default, the WebTMAReportUser is a Member of the Users group, so we have left this user with the default settings.
  • Close the Computer Management dialog. We will assign this user to SSRS in later steps.

Using SSRS 2019/2022 Reporting Services Configuration Tool

Follow the instructions from Microsoft to install SSRS 2019/2022.
